GROWING TOGETHER
Our team envisions a Long Island where every young child gets the support they need from the very start—no matter who they are or where they live. Together, we’re building a stronger, more connected community where families are heard, services are easier to access, and every child has the opportunity to reach their full potential.
-
Our mission is to promote the optimal development of Long Island’s young children by:
Providing ongoing support to families
Offering free developmental screenings
Training providers to identify and respond to developmental needs early
-
Help Me Grow Long Island follows a national model for early childhood support and systems change, and is operated by Docs for Tots. We are a small team of dedicated Long Islanders absolutely committed to promoting developmental screening and connecting families with the resources they need. We connect 1-1 virtually, and in person at community events.
-
Help Me Grow Long Island serves families with infants and toddlers currently living in Nassau or Suffolk County and who are under age 5.
-
We partner with health care, child care, education, and community agencies to connect families with the resources our families need.
-
The Help Me Grow Long Island Leadership Team is a cross-sector partnership of leaders representing pediatric healthcare systems, hospitals, public health, early childhood education, child care, family support, community-based organizations, and county and statewide programs. Together, the team convenes quarterly to review and advise on Help Me Grow Long Island’s strategy and to strengthen connections between the various groups that surround Long Island’s families.
